There are plenty of great online bingo sites around, so don't feel obliged to play at just one place. By joining several sites you can enjoy several bonuses, so take a look at our shortlist of favourites and help yourself to the goodies they offer!

When I first started playing online bingo I was astonished to find out there was different variations on the game. I always presumed online bingo would be just like the traditional game played in bingo halls across the country where you have to play for one, two lines or a full house. In fact there are four different games to be found across the various bingo sites and you may even find different variations on these games as bingo sites often try to put a twist on them to make them that little bit more special. These found types are 90 ball, 80 ball, 75 ball and the newest ones that is becoming popular, 30 ball which is sometimes known as speed bingo.

80 Ball Bingo

90 ball bingo: This is the most traditional version of the bingo game and is played on a card made up of three lines and nine columns. Each of these rows will have five random numbers ranging from 1 to 90. This game is played in three parts and prizes are awarded to the player that covers a line of five numbers first, the player that covers any two lines and finally the biggest prize goes to the player that covers all fifteen numbers on their bingo card first.

80 ball bingo: The best way to describe eighty ball bingo is to get you to think about the prize bingo games you have probably played hundreds of times in any of the amusement arcades up and down the country or in the best casinos; you know the one where you flick across the little black door to cover your numbers. The online version of the game is player on a small four by four card made up of four coloured columns. Most bingo sites just play the one version of this game where you have to cover all sixteen numbers but you may find some that play variations on this game where you have to cover a set pattern instead.

75 ball bingo: Sometimes known as pattern bingo this is my personal favourite and is played on a 25 square card made into a five by five grid and the center square is generally a free one that is already covered for you. The Idea of this game is to cover a set pattern of numbers that form a pattern; these patterns are so diverse and can range from teapots to UFO's or even letters. You generally find bingo sites use the 'coverall' version of this game for their higher jackpot or guaranteed prize games. A coverall game requires the player to cover all 25 squares to win the game.

30 ball bingo: This is the latest version of the game and is ideal for those players that hate games that drag on too long and hate the long gaps between games. Often known as speed bingo it is played on a tiny 3 x 3 square card with a maximum number of 30 balls called. This means these games are played very very quickly and can be over in under a minute; this allows more games to be played per house and therefore more money to be won.
